CULTURE (FRA & GER) Tracks is a show about countercultures, which airs on the European culture channel ARTE.
Arte TRACKS will be represented by Daphnée Denis (Program33) & Yasmine Kempynck (Signed Media).
ARTE Tracks has reported on the avant-garde, countercultures and cultural resistance for nearly three decades. The show is co-produced by Program33 in France, and Signed Media in Germany.
Daphnée Denis is the editor-in-chief of Tracks, a show about countercultures, which airs on the European culture channel ARTE. As a French-Colombian journalist, she has worked extensively across the Americas and Europe. A video correspondent covering Latin America for the AFP news agency at the start of her career, she later moved to Mexico to take the helm of the Latin American video department of Spanish newspaper EL PAIS, focusing on violence against women. She then spearheaded efforts to expand Europe’s fastest-growing online media organization, the French media startup Brut, both in the United States and in Spanish-speaking countries, overseeing news coverage and more ambitious projects, such as the launch of an award-winning documentary team. Daphnée is a regular contributor to Kinfolk magazine and is currently writing her first book about feminism in Latin America. Her work has appeared on the BBC, Monocle Magazine, Slate and Slate France.
Yasmine Kempynck is a Franco-German journalist, editor, and cultural observer whose work explores the often-overlooked connections between pop culture and politics. As Editor-in-Chief of ARTE Tracks Germany, she leads one of Europe’s most distinctive cultural magazines, covering everything from underground music scenes and digital subcultures to activism, identity, and social change.
With a background spanning Germany, France, and the Netherlands, Yasmine approaches cultural storytelling through a European lens, always interested in the people and ideas driving transformation from the margins to the mainstream.
Her editorial work is guided by a simple question: what can culture tell us about the state of society? Whether investigating new artistic movements, feminist perspectives, urban struggles, or the growing influence of reactionary politics, she focuses on stories that reveal how culture becomes a space of resistance, debate, and reinvention.
Daphnée and Yasmine will speak at Forward Festival Berlin.
