Stig De Block (b.1990) is a Belgian fine-art photographer whose culturally referenced practice is grounded in heritage values, intention, and realness. Working within a contemporary visual landscape often driven by speed and ephemerality, he develops a story-driven approach rooted in long-term immersion, trust, and presence. His work unfolds at the intersection of lived reality and imagination, where subcultures become spaces to explore identity, belonging, and continuity.

De Block moves beyond documentation, engaging with communities from within and translating their rituals, aesthetics, and shared passions into a visual language shaped by sculptural light, color, and gesture. His images reflect a contemporary realm of explicit and authentic beauty, emphasizing human connection, cultural memory, and collective expression.

Through this methodology, his practice constructs narratives that celebrate resilience, heritage, and the evolving dynamics of community across time and place.

His work has been exhibited at Art Basel Miami (Scope), Photo London, Le Rencontres d’Arles, and Le 109 in Nice, Paris Photo, among others.

Stig de Block will be speaking at the Forward festival Frankfurt.
